⚠️ Note: This is an advanced form of customization that is not available out of the box. It allows customers to create and display their own custom employee fields in the Zone Employee Portal (ZEP).
ZEP will only display these fields once they have been created, permissioned, and synced by our Support team.
This guide walks you through:
- Creating a custom field on Employee records in NetSuite
- Configuring it for sync with ZEP
- Submitting field details to Support
Once configured, these fields will appear in the Personal Details section in ZEP.
✅ Step 1: Create a Custom Field in NetSuite
- Open any Employee record.
- In the upper right corner, hover over Customize and select New Field.
- You'll be taken to the Custom Entity Field form. Complete the following fields:
Field Instruction Label Name the field (as you'd like it to appear) Type Select an appropriate field type (e.g. Text, Date, List) List/Record Required only for certain field types Store Value ✅ Must be checked Applies To tab ✅ Check Employee Display tab Set layout/display preferences as needed - Click Save.
✅ Step 2: Enable the Field for Syncing with ZEP
🔐 Admin Access Required: You must be logged in as the Administrator role (not Payroll Administrator).
- Go to Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > Record Types
- Locate MyPay Record Permission and click the List link.
- On the MyPay Record Permission List page:
- Find the row where Record Type = employee
- Click Edit
- If you don’t see the Record Type column:
- Click Edit View
- Under the Results tab, add the Record Type field
-
Under Add field to definition, select the custom field(s) you created.
➕ The field(s) will auto-populate under Fields Definition.
- Click Save.
✅ Step 3: Notify Support to Finalize the Sync
Log a support case including:
- The Label(s) of the field(s)
- The Internal ID(s) (e.g.
custentity_custom_field_name)
The Support team will complete the sync so the field appears in ZEP under Personal Details.
